Last year,Allianz again compiled its Risk Barometer and surveyed 2,650 risk managerexperts from 89 countries. For the next 12 months, the experts again see therisk of cyber incidents as the greatest danger for companies, at 44%. Lastyear, this risk was still rated at 40% and ranked third among global risks. Insecond place this year is the risk of business interruption with 42%.
Companiesare particularly affected by ransomware and other forms of cyber attacks, whichcan also lead to business interruptions. In addition, the potential risks ofdigitalisation and working from home are an additional concern. As cyber risksremain less well understood than traditional business interruption triggers(e.g. natural disasters and fires), mitigation measures are also less developedand widespread. Respondents are clear that there is an increased need foraction in this area, or else face consequences from regulators, investors andother stakeholders.
